In some countries, translators are able to register with an official body as a “sworn translator” and produce “sworn translations”. The UK, however, does not have a system of “sworn” translators who are accredited by a particular body. Clients are advised to check with the authority requesting the translation which of the following levels of certification is required: standard certification (by Biznet Professional Translation & Interpreting Ltd (Biznet)); sworn translation (in front of a solicitor); certification by Notary Public; or Apostille/legalised translation. Biznet is able to assist you with all three types of certification.
Standard certification (by Biznet) means we would provide you with a translation on Biznet letterheaded paper (with the details of the agency and our stamp), together with an accompanying “Declaration of Accuracy” which states that the translation is a true and accurate representation of the original document. We thereby affirm both the competency of the translator as well as the accuracy of the translation. This level of certification is sufficient for most official bodies in the UK including many consulates.
Examples of where this level of certification is frequently sufficient include birth, marriage and divorce certificates and academic certificates for use within the UK.
Should you require a further level of certification, we can also provide you with a translation which has been sworn in front of a solicitor in which case Biznet affirms that the translation is a true and accurate translation of the original document and this is witnessed and stamped by the solicitor.
The next level is for the translation to be certified by notary public. The notary public adds their seal and a certified copy of the original text is attached. For example certain legal documents may require this.
In the UK, certain documents that are going to be sent abroad to a state authority may need to be legalised or apostilled. This is done by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and the translation is only valid if the recipient country is a signatory to the Hague Convention. For example, documents that have been issued in the UK but which are required for use by a state authority outside of the UK. Please note that this is a more lengthy and costly process.
Clients are urged to check with the body requiring the certified translation before ordering your translation with us (and then we will do the rest).
Whereas certification by Biznet adds no extra cost and is a free service, each subsequent level of certification carries additional charges which will depend on the number of pages.
Our quotes are based on the length of the document, level of specialisation, style and language combination. We apply discounts if the document contains repetitive text.
Surcharges may apply if the translation is to be carried out outside of office hours.
Simple answer: supply and demand. The rarer the language, the higher the price of the translation as there are fewer translators with that language combination and expertise.

A brief summary:
Consecutive interpreting is mainly used during group meetings or small business conferences. The speaker stops every 3-4 minutes to allow the interpreter to translate what has just been said.
Simultaneous interpreting is used for medium-large conferences and presentations. Delegates wear headphones and the interpreters translate simultaneously from a booth.
We work with more than 50 languages and translate a wide variety of documents, ranging from contracts and agreements, technical specifications, nuclear power generation manuals, tenders and patents to press releases and websites.
All information is treated with the utmost confidentiality. Our linguists sign non-disclosure agreements which prohibit the disclosure to any third party of any information which comes to their knowledge as a consequence of an assignment.
Our translators and interpreters are all highly qualified native speakers who only translate into their native language and who only take on assignments which are in line with their specific area of expertise.
We are well practiced in meeting tight deadlines, whether for urgent press releases or larger and more complex projects.
Our project managers, who are all language graduates/trained linguists, ensure that projects run smoothly and are at hand to answer any queries you or the translator may have. Our translators are specialists in their own particular fields.
